If you have a pof login and signed in to pof lately, you will notice plenty of fish has changed a few things in their email system. The first thing you will notice is they got rid of the retro html look of their message list when you view your inbox. Not too sure why such a profitable dating website would have some of the worst designers, but it works and many people use it. So with the nicer and cleaner look to your pof inbox, visually this is a much better experience.
The next thing you will notice off to the right hand side is is a great big green triangle on each individual message that says “new”. Yep, you guessed it! This tells you if a message is new or not. Pretty obvious but we thought we would point this one out just in case. As you know, the internet is used by everyone.
Last buy not least, well, not for the pocketbook of plenty of fish anyways is a link that says “Show Online Time”. If you click this link it brings you to the upgrade page where plenty of fish tries to sell you on reasons to pay them a monthly fee. Since, at this point there is no accurate description of what this specific feature does we can only speculate it shows when the user was last online maybe. Or maybe how long they have been online. A feature of this type could be useful if you are in full blown stalker mode, or just excited to see when the person you are sending emails to was online last as you anxiously await a response like a love sick teenager. As we said before, we still have yet to find out exactly what this special benefit is. If the $38.70 for 2 months is worth it to you to find out, please contact us and let us know.
So other than a few lines of css, there really is nothing new in your plenty of fish email other than an option to buy more stuff. But at least it looks a little better? While they are slow and overdue, here is to your plenty of fish email upgrades!
If you have signed in to POF lately using your POF login you might have noticed they changes the color of their website a bit. Instead of the aqua colored blue they once had it is now a dark blue. The overall layout of the dating site still remains the same.
Another thing that has changed is upgraded members thumbnails now show up a tiny bit larger in your email. So when an upgraded member emails you, their email will stand out a little. Not sure if this is another “perk” they are adding to try to get people to pay for a membership upgrade or not, but most likely is. If someone is interested in talking to you, a slightly larger thumbnail or a standard thumbnail will probably not really matter, most people read messages in their pof inbox.
One more major change is who you can inbox using pof. An age limit is placed within 14 years of your own age. So if you are a 50yr old woman for example, no longer will you be able to contact men in their 20′s and vice versa. So no longer will you see messages from pof accounts that are 14 years older or younger within your pof inbox.
Sometimes when you login to POF you notice some of your messages have been deleted, they do this after a certain amount of days and is common for everyone. It saves on database space and there is no way to recover old messages once they have been deleted. So if there is something important in a POF message you are wanting to remember, you need to find a different way to save that information or do with out.
Another common issue with plentyoffish people ask about is where did the rest of my email go? They are talking about previous conversations in an email thread, the earlier parts seem to dissapear. Do not worry, they are still there but simply hidden so the page does not span a mile high and you end up having to scroll down to see where you left off. To recover previous content in an email on POF simple go to the email section, select the email you were reading and at the bottom of the page look for the link that says “View More Messages”. See the photo below:
This will be at the very bottom where you go to enter a reply to the sender. The term view more messages is somewhat confusing as it seems like you would be clicking the link to view other messages in your pof inbox, but it will bring up past conversations you were involved in with that user. As you can see you are also given access to block the user or download the plentyoffish phone app right there in your POF Inbox if you choose to. There are a number of things you can do in your pof account, some are just not as obvious as others.
With the recent changes a few people have been complaining about the latest plentyoffish email system. While the threaded conversation view is great, searching and sorting through emails is a hassle. The old system had pagination links at the bottom of your inbox so you could page through the next results based on a page number. So for example lets say you had 100 messages, there might be links at the bottom that looked like 1 2 3 4, all were click-able and could take you to the range of emails you were looking for. The new system simple says next page. This is good if you only have 2 pages of emails, but some of you (especially the ladies) have 60 to 70 pages of emails which if you are looking for an email from a few days ago, you have a lot of clicking to do. Not much fun.
When it comes to online dating emails, having the ability to easily sort and filter through them is a huge benefit to the user. Match does a great job of this in their email system. They do not remove emails either, which plentyoffish does. This is to save on database space. Odds are though if you have not responded back to someone within a few days of site use, most likely you are not that interested anyways so all in all it really does not matter and I understand why POF has their system set up this way. So you might notice some changes now in your POF inbox.
